Jenny & Ty picked a beautiful day for a St. Augustine wedding! Of course they couldn’t have known that when they contacted me over a year ago about photographing it. They also could not have known all of the twists and turns that their life was about to take. It’s amazing the things that can happen while planning a wedding. In the case of Jenny & Ty they had to move to Connecticut for Ty’s work. Meanwhile Jenny is still attending school at University of Florida, so she has to come back to FL for some classes. Oh, and one other tiny little life change- they had a baby ! I don’t know how they have managed to do it all. So, I have dubbed these guys Supercouple! :)
Ty & Jenny were legally married many months before, but still had their dream wedding with family and friends in St. Augustine, FL. It was awesome to see baby Dylan included in the festivities. He was able to stand up with them during the ceremony at Grace United Methodist Church, as well as being included in the “first dance”. He looked so dapper in his little tux! The church has some amazing architectural details- of course. It is St. Augustine, the Nation’s oldest city, after all. (The church’s construction started in 1886. The buildings were designed by Carrere and Hastings and erected by McGuire and McDonald, the same architects and contractors that planned and built the Flagler hotels and Flagler Memorial Presbyterian Church, thus forming one of the most impressive, cohesive architectural complexes in the nineteenth century America.) After the ceremony everyone headed over to The Lightner Museum where the reception was held in The Sala Menendez Room. This wedding wins the prize for “Guests that Traveled the Longest Distance to Attend the Wedding”. Ty’s brother and his family came from Australia, and they also had family fly in from Japan! Having flown to Japan myself I can tell you that is quite a trip.
The theme for the wedding was Cherry Blossoms. I loved the way they used this element! The cake was so beautiful. It definitely goes down as a favorite design for me. Stems from a Cherry tree were also used in the bride’s bouquet (very cool!) and reached high above the guest’s table as centerpieces. Add in a sake toast and paper cranes and you can get a feeling for all of the personal touches Ty & Jenny added to the day.
On to the photos:
Thanks so much to you both for having me at your wedding. It was a pleasure! :) Kristen
