  • Love. Laughs. Photographs.

Hello! I am Kristen Morgan- a girl in her 30's (when did that happen?!?) and a laugh enthusiast who's world revolves around my "sonshine". I love things made from paper, the water, Mexican food with margaritas, flip-flop weather and iPhone-tography. I also love "real" cameras, which is where this website comes in to play. I'm the owner of LanierStar Photography and a full-time photographer based in the St. Augustine / Jacksonville, FL area.

LanierStar photographs Weddings and Portraits throughout North and Central Florida, and SE Georgia. I'm also available for travel. My personality is fun and laid back, which helps people feel comfortable around me. At the same time my years spent managing businesses ensures that your experience will be positive and professional. My photography style is candid, using photojournalism to capture you in real life. Then I combine that with artistic portraiture and an attention to details to fully capture your day.

Please scroll down to read the blog, which is updated much more frequently than the websites! Primarily I use it to showcase the latest sessions, but hopefully you can get a feel for who I am, too. Feel free to click those colorful tabs in the upper left to connect with me on Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram or Twitter! I'd love to start planning your portrait session or hear about your wedding, so use the Contact tab up top, call 904.639.5960, or email me at info@lanierstar.com.

Whitney and Ryan | Ponte Vedra Beach, FL engagement session

Like a lot of my couples Ryan and Whitney live outside of FL.  Since they currently reside in Chicago, IL the first time we had a chance to meet in person was at their engagement session.  Whitney grew up in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL so they are having their wedding at TPC Sawgrass.  The weekend of their engagement session was jam-packed with wedding planning activities since it was their only time in Jacksonville before the wedding.  We planned to meet up on a Friday afternoon out at the beach after Whitney finished up with her makeup/hair trial run.  Well, things ran late.  Really late, as hair and makeup have a tendency to do.  As soon as they wrapped up they met up with me and we all made a mad dash to the closest public beach entrance!  Fortunately there was a little sun still peeking over the horizon and we had a great time.  Whitney was bummed that her hair didn’t look like it normally does because of the hair trial.  So, I made some jokes about Amy Winehouse and hopefully that made her feel a little better.  Or not.  ;)   Here’s a few images from our afternoon-

I look forward to seeing you two in May!

[...] Ryan & Whitney live in Chicago, but chose to have their wedding in Jacksonville where Whitney lived while growing up.  They chose TPC Sawgrass for their wedding and reception.  Truly an amazing venue!  The guys and gals utilized the expansive locker rooms to get ready, while enjoying wines carefully selected by the groom himself.  It was a very hot day, so we made use of the inside and outside of the clubhouse when it came time to take portraits.  Then we had a beautiful  ceremony on the TPC lawn.  Afterwards there were cocktails on the lawn and then everyone moved upstairs to the Ponte Vedra room for dinner.  As they both love to travel, the tables were named after some of Whitney and Ryan’s favorite places- Key West, Oxford, South Haven, Las Vegas.  The sweetheart table received the ultimate name of The Maldives.  Cloud 9 kicked off the entertainment after dinner and kept the clubhouse rocking all night.  I have to say they are the best live band I have worked with.  Just a great group of guys and tremendously talented!  After several hours of dancing and drinks – SURPRISE! –  the TPC wait staff carried out trays of Krystal cheeseburgers which were quickly devoured by the crowd.  (Krystal’s was a favorite stop for Whitney and friends on their way home from going out on the weekends.)  Shortly thereafter the newlyweds exited through a shower of sparklers, hopped on to  a golf cart headed to a hotel and then on to their amazing honeymoon!
