I was really looking forward to Candace and Hardus‘ December wedding. It would be my last wedding of 2009, with beautiful people at a beautiful location. The couple were very disappointed when rain was forcast on the day of the wedding. This meant a tent instead of the private residence’s views of the intracoastal in St. Augustine, FL. We had made plans for photos at outdoor locations- including Hardus’ work vehicle- a fire truck! Fortunately we had a couple of breaks in the rain drops, as well as the ability to quickly regroup and make some new plans. Through it all this couple stayed focused on what was important- they were getting married and were surrounded by family and friends.
We moved their “First Look” to a porch where they could see each other for the first time in private. I’ve said it before, but these are so awesome! I love when the bride and groom have this moment to themselves, as well as the flexibilitu it gives us for creating beautiful portraits. Hardus was so nervous waiting for Candace! It was very cute. Candace was amazingly beautiful and provided all the sunshine we needed. The ceremony was filled with love and a lot of laughs, and was officiated by Hardus’ father. Afterwards everyone all headed to the Kingfish Grille where we watched a beautifully choreographed first dance by the bride and groom. Later I saw the most spirited garter ceremony I have ever witnessed. It was also the first time I’ve ever been involved in a multi-person pile up as a result from the bouquet toss. Those girls were serious! (Photo evidence can be seen below.)

I told you these girls were serious about catching the bouquet!
Many thanks to Candace and Hardus for ending my year on a high note! I hope you had a wonderful Mexican honeymoon. :) Kristen
